I’m Dr. Jayna M. Kelly, an Interventional Cardiologist at the Metropolitan Cardiovascular Institute in Memphis, Tennessee. After completing my training at the University of Vermont in 2023 and the Ochsner network in New Orleans, I’ve returned to Memphis to specialize in Interventional Cardiology.
My passion for medicine began in fifth grade and was solidified when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Inspired by the compassionate care she received, I became dedicated to helping others achieve better health.
After playing basketball at Rhodes College, I graduated from the University of Mississippi/Ole Miss with a Bachelor of Science in biology. I earned a Master of Science from Indiana University before pursuing a medical degree at the University of Tennessee, where I served as class vice president and contributed to the local community.
Committed to fitness, I’ve co-founded the running group Sisters in Motion and completed over 10 half marathons and a full marathon. I’m available to speak on heart health, women in medicine, and empowering individuals to lead healthier lives.
Married to Justin Pearson, we have a son, Carter, and two dogs, Miles Davis and Bass Reeves. I’m dedicated to educating and empowering African American women to proactively prevent heart disease.
It’s been a long road, with challenges, detours and frequent reviews of ‘why’ a medical path was chosen. I’m committed to service to others, especially educating and helping African American women become more knowledgeable about their heart health and how to be proactive to PREVENT heart disease versus TREATING heart disease after it has materialized.
God's plan is the best plan and just trust it.
